George is gone. Rose lives in Pittsburgh. Rose and George were so very helpful when Eddie had his second heart attack and we had to stay in Pittsburgh. Their daughter, Harriette, lived here in Phoenix. She died a year ago. She was married to Jay Epstein, an Obstetrician. They had two children, Andy and Lynne.

Andrew married to Karola, living in San Antonio, Tex., where he is in his final internship. They just had a baby boy, Harrison Joshua. Lynne married to Mark, an M.D. who is giving back his educational time to the Navy.

After Rose is Gertie …
Gertie married to Morry Zwibel, live in Greensburg, Pa., retired Jewelers. Have two children … Howard, a Urologist (same as Andy Epstein) living in Florida, married to Joanne. They have two children, school age, a son in college and a daughter in High School. Morry and Gerties daughter, Brenda, lives in Philadelphia. She is a speech therapist. Divorced twice…no children.

I know very little about my second cousins. Since the advent of travel and everyone freer to live elsewhere and quite a few of my first cousins gone, I have lost my sources of information. We were all quite close at one time. Of course, difference in age makes a difference. I am now an elder states-person. Imagine that!!!

The above encompasses the family of Perleh and Borach.

Now Tante Chaneh . . .

Married to Tevye Horovitz (later changed to Harvey). She was a tall, stately, very pretty lady, soft-spoken and kind. He was short, badly curvitured back (TB), bearded. He was very learned Torah-wise. Had a sharp sharp mind and extremely penny-wise. They lived on Roberts Street behind Uncles little store …. he was a locksmith. There was a large kitchen and a few dark bedrooms and outside of the kitchen there was a permanent Succah where Moon, the colored man lived. I guess Moon had to be an all-around helper and handyman to Uncle. I truly dont know his position. As most at that time, poverty ruled and Uncle was a stickler for buying food bargains. They probably had to …. so many children. Tante had to account for every penny. I also remember that most of the children had very bad chests …. inherited from Uncle.

Chaneh and Tevyes oldest child was Osher (Oscar). He married Betty Panish, wealthy. They had one child, Jeannie, married and living in Pittsburgh. Betty was left with a milk leg after Jeannies birth and had a pronounced limp after that. She was a heavy-set woman with a beautiful face. She died very young. Oscar was involved with the mob and during prohibition, boot-legging was the source of income. He spent a few years in jail at that time. He never quite made it after that period. He became an alcoholic and his brothers and Jeannie helped him as much as they could. He is gone.

After Osher is Bessie …. who was always sickly, bad chest. A pretty woman, pleasant, who had a beautiful voice and could sing all the Jewish songs. She married late in life to Nate Weiner (no relation) who worked for Western Union. They had one daughter, Myra. Nate long gone. Bessie lived in Florida for years and years managing one of her brother Bens apartment complexes.

Myra married a brain who was always employed in Washington, DC, where they live. I understand that Bessie had been with Myra for quite some time until Myra could not care for her any longer and Bessie is now in a Nursing Home near Washington. Myra has no children.
